Katharine Story was launched several years ago at the opening of her boutiques in Laguna Beach and Los Angeles. She has quickly grown to become a cult favorite for locals, Hollywood, and international clients – The company currently operates VIP and private showings in her ateliers in Laguna Beach, California and NYC, and is carried in several other boutiques worldwide.
Katharine Story was born in Laguna Beach from a family of artisans, she spent her 20’s in London, which she considers her training years – she sold her own designs in London’s Camden market, as well as working at the acclaimed Harvey Nichols. Story specializes in over dyed unstructured shapes, some with leather ties that conform to a women’s shape rather than having the garment dictate the fit, in this way her pieces complement women of every size .
With the decision to launch her own line Story has expanded to include a fully rounded ready-to –wear collection which includes her classic linen separates as well as signature laces, chiffons and velvets – Story also produces a “gold label” and a bridal collection exquisite dresses which are intricately embellished and finished to the heights standards of design, all with Story designed beading and lace.
While constantly being expanded in design, the collections always stay true to the Katharine Story philosophy of making timeless pieces for the wearer to look and feel beautiful rather than following trends purely for the sake of fashion.
